An Invitation from Our Pastor

The church is the basic religious institution in the community. Its message is one of hope for the individual and the world. The church is not merely one more organization in a world beset with organizations. From age to age it towers in the community as the supreme symbol of dignity of human life. It is a fellowship reaching across the centuries and around the world. The church is founded upon the conviction of the reality of God and the relevance of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Its enduring power through world-shaking transitions testifies to its strength and importance. It turns our thoughts to God and the needs of others. It is a guide to the true, enduring and foundational values of life.

For over 50 years, Community Church of Leisure World has lived and served, taking a noteworthy place in the family of churches in Leisure World. Our church’s beginnings and development have been closely related to the development of Leisure World. Across the years its ministry has touched thousands of lives. I hope that you will consider joining us for worship at 9:50 am on Sunday

Pastor Don

Pastor Roe came to Community Church on July 1,2014. For over 37 years he has served churches in LaHabra, Long Beach, Norwalk, Chino, Hacienda Heights, Fullerton and Anaheim. Pastor Don enjoys reading non-fiction books. This leads to his love of adult education in serving and visiting members of the church family and is excited to get to know this amazing community.

Sue Long

Office Manager

Sue came to Community Church in 2013 with over 20 years as a small business owner in a company she and her husband built from the ground up, expanded, and then sold. She is a member and active volunteer in ministries at her home church in Fountain Valley for over 30 years. She is passionate about Global Missions and has led and served on numerous young adult and adult missions teams to the Dominican Republic, India, and Mexico. Another passion is serving in the Young Adult/College Age ministry at her church. Walking alongside young women through this time of critical decision making and pursuing God’s plan for their lives brings her much joy.

Sue is blessed to be married to her wonderful husband of almost 30 years and has two amazing adult children and a wonderful son-in law. Time spent with family, hiking, traveling, skiing, boating, and enjoying God’s creation is her favorite pastime.

Rodney Quinones

Building Manager

Rodney came to the United States form Costa Rica 25 years ago. He studied and served as a Franciscan monk in Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States. His mission was serving and caring for seniors and disabled adults.

Rodney began his work at Community Church in 2003 at the conclusion of his monastery service. Rodney sees the congregation as his second family as he has deeply interacted and cared for people of this church. He is overwhelmed by the love and generosity of this community. Rodney loves to cook and entertain and uses these God given gifts in service to Community Church.

Jeannie Braun

Jeannie is a new member of our staff and also a new resident of Leisure World. She was born in Oneida New York and is a third generation resident in the Leisure World Community. Growing up her family moved a lot around the country but settled in Fountain Valley where Jeannie graduated high school and attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa with a degree in business. She is still working and has spent now over 25 years in the mortgage and finance industry. After visiting the Leisure World Community church she decided right away to become a member of our choir and when the vacancy became available for a treasurer she volunteered wanting to serve the church more. Jeannie enjoys spending time with her dog Kaylie on long walks, reading and considers herself a student of the bible enjoying as much time as she can reading and understanding the wonderful word of God hoping to teach in the future as well as participate in our missions team.

She is the middle child of four with a brother and two sisters all living in California but spread out in Bakersfield, Long Beach and Colton.

Jeannie is looking forward to a long time serving here in Leisure World and in Leisure World Community Church.
